Does anyone know if they still do XC school here and does anyone have a contact number?

I know Mark Todd has recently bought it so maybe they have stopped.

This was my worry....I didn't want to go ringing his personal mobile if there is now a different number....I'm sure he's got better things to do than speak to me about using the gallops

And would it be wrong to drive 2+ hours there to use the gallops just for the novelty of having to call MT?

I think they are still hiring it out - plenty of folks seem to have been using it lately at least.
We used to use Ted Haines' gallop opposite - fab run up the hill (you know if they can manage it twice without blowing you're pretty much good to go anywhere) and the going's really good so might be worth contacting him if anyone's looking for gallops rather than jumping.

It is being hired out but last I heard it was closed last week because of the ground.
