Hi all,

Due to work me and my friend weren't able to book our days off for Badders until this week, but we're all set now. However, this has left us with a major accommodation issue, everywhere is either booked, miles away or at least £100 a night. After freezing before we really don't want to camp especially as that is an expensive option in itself! We'll be travelling up on Friday 6th and wanting to leave Monday 9th.

We're after a twin room, preferably less than 10 miles from the site, I have done so much Googling and found nothing so was wondering if anyone had any ideas or recommendations please?

Many thanks :)

You'll be lucky to find something under £100 per night now

Have you tried the cheapy travelodge at J17 services?

I assume compass inn was booked out yonks ago.

Try Yate area - that would generally be cheaper as outside Cotswolds

Or Air BnB?

Thank you all. Unfortunately we don't earn a lot to save up and splash out on event priced accommodation, although £100 is probably quite normal we just cannot afford that alongwith tickets, food and petrol, it ends up more than a nice foreign holiday! It's the cheapy places like Premier Inn and Travel Lodge which are at least £100 per night, everything else is well in excess of that. I think I've tried everything from hotels, B&B's, caravans, statics, lodges, holiday parks, chalets, hostels and camp sites, it's not through lack of trying lol :D

I will get on the case to those recommended above in the morning and see if there's anything available. The caravan hire is extremely expensive at £600 plus the pitch hire which is a further £300 so unfortunately out of the question. It's such a shame that neither of us can book holiday from work so far in advance that we can get ahead of the others booking, taking a risk and booking anyway isn't worth it as despite protestations both of us have ended up working for the last few years during Badminton. Damn and blast!

Thank you again very much!

Where are you travelling from? I went on an organised coach trip last year. I live in Glasgow and don't drive, the logistics of planning my own way there and back and finding digs proved impossible. The trip was from the Thursday to the Sunday, leaving after prize giving, and was inclusive of tickets, evening meals, breakfast, and coach taking us from/to badminton each day. I was around £370... I had single supplement to pay. The company I used make pick up stops on the route down from Scotland. I would book the same trip again in a heartbeat if I could afford it. Stress free and my fellow travellers were all lovely. I travelled with David Urqhaurt travel. There were alot of similar coaches and mini busses parked up next to our bus each day so am sure there are similar "organised" trips that may help make it easier for you.

Disaster averted, my friend somehow managed to find a really well priced hotel in Yate so we've booked in for 2 nights rather than 3 as it's £100 a night, we'll just have to cope with the mass exodus on Sunday and drive home the same day, doesn't matter though as we're all booked and sorted now and very excited!

Magnadoodle our local newspaper does coach trips and they did do Badminton but it's vanished this year which is such a shame. They still do Burghley though so looking at that as enough time to save up for then! Nice to hear you had a good experience with them though as I have only ever done a Wallace Arnold holiday with my Mum before which was quite unpleasant I must say!

Thank you again everyone, very much appreciated!
