hi guys im a badminton virgin and camping friday to monday. what tips do you experienced badders guys have, what to take etc also how far is the camping from the actual site? thanks!!!

I've camped for the last 4 years and have the following tips:

*don't set up camp too near the main drag....noisy!
*take your own bog roll & bin bags
*bring double the amount of wine you think you'll want in the evening
*floors of showers get filthy - take flip flops that you can wear in shower
*bring clothes/boots/shoes for all weather conditions
*allow 15 mins to amble through the village & up the drive to the main site
*there is a cash withdrawal service but no cash machines - queue gets very long

Enjoy - look out for a group of 8 people with a gazebo in the middle of 4 tents drinking lots of wine and carrying loads of shopping!

Haven't camped for a while, but always had to get up early for showers, otherwise there's a long queue of sleepy looking people in their jim-jams! Used to take a choice of clothes for each day and end up wearing the same stuff for the whole weekend! Nowhere to plug in a hairdryer! Everything gets damp if its wet (even the stuff that you've left in the dry!). Mobile phone reception dodgy in the evenings as everyone ringing home to check on their horses! There's a fish and chip van each evening. There always used to be a little butcher type shop as well who sold sausages/bacon etc as well as milk and eggs (on the campsite near the officials). Depending on where you are on the site (it's huge!) it takes about 15 minutes to walk to the event. Take a torch (or several) so you can find your way to the loo in the dark (believe me - the loos are better in the dark!). Quite fun trying to find your tent on the way back from the loo as well! Still wish I was staying again this year though but elderly mum a bit past roughing it these days so we travel up each day. Have fun!

I've never camped at Badminton but I've been to many festivals...
My advice is:
-Don't pitch tent next to a busy path or the toilet block, it may seem convenient at the time, but it'll be noisy and/or smelly!
-Food/drink is usually quite expensive on-site, so bring as much as your own as you can.
-Bin bags are handy for keeping camp tidy, and also for sitting on if it's wet.
-Bring lots of layers for night time, it'll get freezing!
-Bring loo rolls
-Bring wet wipes

Have fun!!
