Broadway was the last event for us this season. We had 2 regional finals, went to Milton Keynes and decided flowers were horse eating monsters and got a 34 dressage and then went too quick XC which left them 15/16th so nowhere near good enough!

Off we trundled to Broadway today after 2 lovely double clears at Solihull and Kelsall 100's also being gained coming 7th at Solihull.

Broadway was a beautiful event and really well run, although the time XC seemed challenging and the SJ was causing carnage.

Their dressage was ok but broke into canter when he shouldn't have and could have been more relaxed despite an hour warming up! 34 and in joint 5th after dressage.

SJ, theme of the season, CLEAR! He has only had one pole all season and that was with me at Stafford when I buried him!!

Pressure was on now, a clear XC inside the time and he had qualified, so off we went rather quickly over the first 6 then realised he was maybe going a bit to quick so slowed up over the middle of the course and then seemed to speed up again at the end!
They jumped a fabulous clear, not hesitating at a thing and came home well inside the time (nearly 30 secs!)

Worst he could do was 6th, so went and checked the scoreboard and he was 2nd! So off to Badminton we go :D :D :D :D

Video here if anyone is interested (XC starts at 5:12) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7pxcaBMrBw&feature=feedu

Fabulous end to a fabulous season, one 20 pen on the record where we put a stronger bit in and he pulled up with the slightest half halt!
Both horse and rider in their first EVER season eventing and they have had a ball! Onto bigger and better things next year so fingers crossed things go as smoothly.

I was going to say time for a winter of rest but for us it is a winter of BD, BSJA and Hunting! With 2 young ones to get going, amateur finals to attend, BD area festivals and Blue chip qualifiers!

He's so smart!! MASSIVE well done, that's a seriously impressive achievement in their first season together :) What are your plans for him next year (besides winning at Badders, ofc!)?

They will do 2 100's then Badminton then a Novice and depending how his novices go potentially and Intermediate/*!! He has more than enough scope and has jumped much bigger showjumping it's just learning the XC job! And of course winning at Badminton would be fabulous haha!
