i dont think they would cancel it, but i wouldnt be suprised if some riders will withdraw after dressage is the ground stays as it is. i know it rained quite a bit today in places, but i live right by badminton and we had barely any rain here today, ground is bone dry and like concrete!!
they will do everything possible to get the ground in the right condition. They would areovate and water i would imagine as well as all weather take off/landings etc.
We've had persistent and heavy rain here all day. The field was still hard this evening. A slight amount of give, but hard going all the same. Spraying the ground just wouldn't make a difference, surely? They'd need a ridiculous amount of water, which would take an age to do as well.
No way will they cancel. Theres a huge amount of work that can be done on the ground over the next few weeks and if there is any suggestion that the going may be unrideable at certain fences then things get modified.

Yes, they won't cancel, this is an international event and unlike the little ode's they can throw thousands of pounds at preparing the ground.

Ditto. I go to Badminton every year. In 1995, the weather was unbelievably hot and sunny, and the ground was hard, but they did not cancel. Only one or two horses failed the final vet inspection.

I was there that year....it was boiling!! Heaps of people and canines in the lake, we all got burnt!
If they can sort ground for racing then I'm sure they can sort the XC course. A few tractors with those things for watering the ground should help.................just hope there is not a hosepipe ban
