Badminton Trot up Q

Just out of curiosity, what's the rule for who can trot up the horse. I've been following EWW and H&H twitter from the trot up and one said Ben Hobday was trotting up Claire Lewis' (I think) horse. I'm guessing it's special circs or otherwise grooms would do it?!?!! I tried googling but couldn't spot it

Clare broke her leg very badly a few years ago and can't run. Anyone can trot the horse but it is more normal for riders to ask another rider who is good at it. They are used to being in a public and competitive situation and it is quite an art to trotting up a horse well. The best can make a lame horse look sound while some can make a sound horse appear lame.

I believe Claire has a leg injury/condition that means she can't trot up so Ben does it. But I don't really know the rules to be honest!

All makes perfect sense. I guess I've just not noticed anyone else other than the rider before (truth is I've not paid that much attention)
