I did think to title it Coronation Weekend Plans, however I decided Badminton was more important!

We are off to eventing mecca on Saturday, a day in front of the TV Sunday and a quick trip to the gallops on Monday before settling down for SJ finale!

Good luck everyone out and about... or whether you are like me and planning Badminton immersion for the duration!

I kick off with an SJ session tomorrow morning, hacking on home turf Saturday, then allegedly either the gallops with hacking chum or boxing IP to ride somewhere... no plans for Monday yet.
Forecast not looking clever tho, so apart from tomorrow, everything else can work around the weather.

Good luck to those competing, hope those watching Badminton dont over imbibe 😉 on sugar rushes etc

Badminton !! Arrived yesterday to watch the grassroots. Really enjoyed it. More accessible than the big event and a really nice atmosphere. Hadn’t realised everything except the xc was over the road so I missed my friend sj but we did catch her at the xc start. its a much quicker course so she’d gone round before we made it to the finish line! There was a fab feathered cob storming round the xc and some very game horses and riders, which was great to see.

The weather was better than I thought it would be, apart from a quick but heavy shower during the trot up which dampened the prize giving for the grassroots. We’re back again for Sunday and Monday with some non horsey time until then.

Road has organised a picnic on a small green we have. Feeling guilty that Im probably going to be watching Badminton instead (especially as it’s been paid for)

My hacking buddy has just cancelled because it's p'ing it down and she's supposed to be organising a family party for the coronation later so I'm sat in the barn with a so-called feral cat on my lap pondering living the horsey dream in the pouring rain. Everything needs exercising so I need to shift.

Did my kinesiology taping training yesterday which was great. Some wonky horses to practice on and impressive to see how their movement changes with such an innocuous bit of tape in a certain place

I think this afternoon might be TV watching

This weekend is the start of a crazy horsey week .... SJ yesterday, dressage today, rest day tomorrow. Somerford Camp Tues-Thur. I am running it and the top perk of that is private lessons with the instructors at the start or end of each day! So I have 1 30 min XC and 2 30 min SJ sessions to prep for Chatsworth AE on Friday.

Then a Joe Midgley lesson Saturday at our yard. Then me and Lottie can both have a few days off!

SJ started well. Headed for the National Amateur Championships at Kelsall. Clear in the 85. 2 poles in the 95 which looked ENORMOUS. Both sack the jockey errors when I stopped riding in favour of closing my eyes and praying.:p. But there were only 8 clears in a big class, so not too shabby for first attempt at that height, ever.

Today we are staying very local and low key. She schools so nicely at home and boils over at comps so I am trying to address that. I have schooled at the venue in the boards. Now its just one step up from that at a tiny unaff comp. I believe I am the only entrant in P12. Does a red frilly count under such circumstances. Asking for a friend.....

Hacking this weekend. The farmer cut our tracks so we can have a bit of a blast now without fear of being tangled in long grass.

I embarrassed Polly with this…

She needed a new fly rug so I went to Charlie’s last weekend to buy her the same type as Millie, but they didn’t have her size. Then I saw this wonderful monstrosity and felt that it was only fair, given what she did to my leg last year 😁

I'm on iteration 3
Was supposed to be at windsor international for the driving but they cancelled that early last week due to the ground.
Re routed to first proper grown up hunter trial in a lot of years on share pony tomorrow but that cancelled yesterday even before the massive amount of rain we then had yesterday.
Plan C is just playing with ponies at home 😂 and I should probably clean the house but 😂

I don't do much these days because I only have the 2 year old at the moment, so I'm less active on these threads. I do have riding opportunities and could afford a second horse, but I'm oddly enjoying not riding and keep myself very (probably too) busy. Plus, this area is rather abysmal in respect to yards that have actual facilities or any sort of hacking. We were going to enter a young horse in-hand comp, but I have a more important obligation that day. Might still try to get him to another one though, just for experience. So yesterday I decided to get him acclimated to his new trailer.

He was a bit of a stubborn donkey about it all, but does load with food encouragement. He's loaded on a variety of trailers and lorries since he's an international traveler, but I think it was mostly with luring and/or force. So, trying to get him to walk on, and eventually self load like his predecessor. Hopefully he gets to that point, on day.

He's also too freaking tall. He's 15.2 now and string tested at...a height I don't want to discuss. I don't want a tall horse, I prefer a more medium sized solid horse (he's a PRE). However, he's got nice movement and with some size, he may be very attractive to potential buyers should I choose not to keep him. So that's what we did this weekend. Loading and also some hosing (it was hot), which he took pretty well to, before he had a tantrum that I wouldn't let him roll at a stupid spot right in front of the gate BEFORE leading him through the gate and into the actual field. 🙄 He's been a bit opinionated lately 🤣

@CanteringCarrot, to make you feel better, my 2yro is now 16.3hh....

I had a great spin up the gallops this morning. Also tried my new watch, ready for eventing next weekend- assuming it doesn't cancel as forecast this week is crap again!

Oh no, mine would be packing his bags! I don't want to use a ladder to get on him! 🤣

I mean a good horse is a good horse, but I just don't need the height. Especially when I have to mount from the ground from time to time.

I'm also getting a bit worried about next weekend, we've got standing water on our fields and are forecast more rain this week!

Me too... I've got an entry at Aston on Thurs and Llanymynech on Sat. Can't quite see how, with the forecast, that either of those will run. Aston meant to be our first intermediate, and I need to be psyching myself up, not forecast watching.

I am supposed to be at Howick next week 🙈. I am finding it all a bit exhausting as mine needs to go on the back of a decent xc school.

I have done my horse shopping trip - sorry about shakey camera as you can imagine there was a lot going on and I was trying to bid on several at the same time.

We're meant to be at Calmsden on the weekend and Howick next week- the rain we had through here today was pretty biblical, with more expected through the week... I don't feel positive!
