Hi,

Does anyone own an old Bahill Sportsman Double horse trailer. Do you know what size horse it is supposed to carry? (Width and lenght of trailer would be very helpful)

Thank you.

Hi I sold mine last year but unfortunately cant find the advert still on ebay, as i'd measured it to death! .. Mine would carry 2 max 16.2hh, but I do remember they made one up to 17.2 and also a pony one up to 14.2. Sorry I cant be of any more help, will keep hunting for the details

I used to have one and travelled 16.2 middleweight in it, granted I had the partion moved to give him about 3/4's of the trailer but he was fine for headroom and travelled well in it especially as this was a horse that would not load when I got him.

Sorry I really cant find it ... what I can tell you though is that it was lovely and light to tow and manouvre. I used to be able to tow it legally with my pony in with our Rover. It was the same width as the car, so I think the partitions would have been about 2ft 3 each. I have a heavyweight cob and I had to take out the partition to travel him, though I travelled my ID/TB and other medium weight horses with no problems. If I can help further please let me know

I've got one and I think it's supposed to carry two 16hh horses. I used to travel my 16.2hh middleweight without the partition and a single breast bar. He was very comfortable in it and had plenty of room. I never travelled him with the partition in as I thought it was a bit narrow.
The internal height of our trailer is just over 7ft.
I've had it for around 6 years and really like it. It's very light (650k without the partition) and easy to tow.

Thanks for all your comments. The one I'm considering is just over 7ft high which makes me think it's not pony size, but it looks too narrow; which is what your comments above indicate.

My horse is not used to travelling so I will see how he goes with the centre partition taken out and a single breast bar in its place. Wasn't sure how legal it was to travel with the centre partition taken out.

Thanks again.

I have a Bahill trailer! It was built in 1984 and still going strong it takes 2x17.2 horses. Its bigger than an ifor williams HB505 but slightly smaller than a HB510 - ive never measured it to see exactly what size it is but a 17.2 fits in easily.
