Just heard from the vet and it isn't good news.

The ulcer has returned and is bigger than it was when we initially started this whole process a month ago - it is now about 1cm across and she thinks it will take about a month or so for it to heal if all goes well.

I am absolutely gutted, I was so happy that it was looking like being 7-10 days before he had recovered and he was going out in the field. Now back at square one.

Oh what a shame. Eyes are awful to heal aren't they. Has he been rubbing his head at all? - may have scratched his eye I suppose. Brooklyn tries to rub his head, its amazing the lavage tube stays in.

Oh F&D that's not what you needed to hear. Can't remember - is he in a specialist centre? As BB says, eyes are so hard to heal as they don't have a blood supply. Have the vets suggested an op where they take the membrane from beneath the eyelid and stitch it across the eye? That brings a blood supply. Also, they may suggest slicing off a layer of the cornea in the hope that it will take the infected material away too. Neither of these offer any guarantees but if all other options are running out, it might be worth discussing with the vets.

Keep in touch and let us know how he's doing xxx
