Morning, do any of you use the above what one is the best? I am currently on the Lo cal and Lottie looks great however her hooves are not growing and I have heard that the stud balancer is better and cheaper? Wanted to know if it is worth swapping. I am not going for Blue Chip as never works and topspec is too expensive

Yep, i use the stud balancer, have done for about 4-5 years. I give it to all the horses, in different amounts depending on how old they are. they don't need any other supplements, and none of mine get any other mix or nuts - just readigrass, hi-fi, alfa-a, sugar beet, and hay. the lo-call is more expensive and not worth the difference unless you have one who is laminitic or something, i think.

Ok thanks, my horse tends to keep the weight on though does drop off at shows etc and is not a laminitic and is worked hard. She is also on 1 scoop tiger oats a day and 1 of conditioning mix as she tends to lack the sparkle

interesting to hear about the stud balancer, i was thinking of giving the lo-cal to mine but might consider the stud balancer now! how much cheaper than the lo-cal is it, and how do you calculate how much to give them?

Check out Baileys website as you need to feed much more stud Balancer than LoCal I believe, which can wipe out the price difference.

D and H Suregrow is also very good and £12 a bag.

yep i use the stud balancer on lots of mine - got it first for my 2yo who now needs a bit more growing - didnt feed it early on has his dad was 18hh and didnt want a giant !!

ive found it really works and now feed it to all my mares in foal, and foals youngsters !!

Fantastic stuff x

I have been using D&H Sure Grow, but due to H winning a £10 Bailey's Voucher at Arena UK, will be trying the Bailey's Stud Balancer - am waiting for the order to come in, should be there tomorrow! Sure Grow is £12.85 and the Bailey's Stud Balancer is £16.55.

I was using the Lo Cal until my feed merchant stopped stocking it. I've moved onto Bailey's Outshine and much much prefer it. Don't feed very much at all (250g per day plus small scoop of Dengie Healthy Hoof) but my horses are thriving on it. Smells yummy too

Mines on Lo Cal at the mo, whats the difference between that and the Stud Balancer? Does it give them more energy? My mare is v.hot and spooky. She's also a baby still at just turned 4.Would you guys think it'd be better? I'm not sure what to do for winter, at the mo she has the 2 cups of L.C and Chaff, do you think if i add sugar beet to that would be enough to see her through? She is keeping weight on at the mo but is thin skinned and i think if she'll be in work she may drop off if i'm not careful. She is a good doer but i just want to make sure she's getting all she needs.

stud balancer is slightly higher in protien, and has extra vitamin e, TBH i have used stud balacer as it is cheaper and i was feeding a 2yo and a 10 yo, both looked great on it.
