Hi all,

I am considering giving baileys lo cal a go, for my TB who is a good doer doesn't need much to keep weight on her, she can get a bit porky especially when the spring grass comes through but she will be wearing a grazing muzzle this year too.

So any thoughts on it?

Good or Bad?

I thought it seemed a pretty cost effective way of giving them everything they need without breaking the bank.

Yes, very much so. Have used it on TB's, WB's and cobs (no weight gain) and it suited all of them. Have periodically played around with alternatives like the supplements favoured by barefoot hoof enthusiats, but Lo Cal has out performed them for hoof health, coat and vitality (without fizziness).
Its a bit boring really, I'd quite like to find something new but Lo Cal seems to do very well what it says on the tin.

Thanks Horserider :D

Yeah that's what I was thinking, I had her on Dengie healthy hooves for a while and she was having to consume 2kg a day and when they only come in 20kg sacks she was going through it so fast!

I've played around with various supplements for vitamins and minerals and they are just as dear as lo cal if not slightly more, so i'm definately going to consider it. :)

Fed both of mine on it for years, really recommend it. No silliness, doesn't put weight on, but gives them what they need to look fab!

Thanks guys :)

Yeah I have to be a bit careful what I feed her as she can get rediculous and silly when she wants to so I have to consider that, but the low sugar/starch content seems like it will suit her really well.

Thought I would just ask what people think to it, as some products are great where as others you can end up spending a fortune for nothing!

I think i'll go down to my local feed shop next week and get some ordered in, as she still has some feed left at the moment so I want to feed it soley alongside her Hi Fi Lite so I can see what it will do for her fingers crossed it will live up to my expectations! :)

another thumbs up for me :-)baileys low cal all year then i add top chop lite in and if required sugar beet (speedi) in winter and linseed and it seems to do the job.

Yeah I was just thinking off adding some Dengie Hi Fi Lite, as she eats that as she can be quiet fussy but it will also keep her weight down! And if she needs anything extra she can have some fast fibre, hopefully not as she does keep her weight really well :)

Definatly sounds like a really good product, it's not that used where I live so I thought I would ask on here as no one I know uses it! But for cost effectiveness sounds really good, other feed balancers were going to cost me the earth! Top spec are spillers are so so expensive I nearly had a heart attack when I asked the price of them at my feed shop! Top spec starting at £35, £45 for the senior and spillers original £33  and neather seem to last as long as the Lo cal.

One of mine is fine on it & looks good without getting fatter, the other turns into nearly 700kg of attitude problem. That one is fine on Top Spec, while the one that's good on LoCal becomes spooky & cheeky on TS. I think you just have to try them and see what suits.

Yeah i'll give it a go and see what happens, with any luck she'll stay trim and not have any attitude problems.. Spinning, bucking and rearing I could do without at the moment! :p

I use to use Bailey's Lo-cal mixed with Dengie Hi-Fi Lite loved it but needed to save some pennies so now use spillers lo-cal balancer which is about £5 cheaper.
