My 30yo is lacking a little condition (teeth are ok but she's missing some) and I was thinking of using bailey's outshine, but all her feeds are soaked into a mush, and I wanted to check if this could be soaked too? As from memory the pellets are quite hard.

At the moment she has ad lib haylage, high fibre cubes and speedi beet, plus 2 mugs of blue chip, I try and keep to low starch and high fibre feeds.

I've used Outshine in small amounts for years but recently tried EquiJewel on my tb who dropped off and I was amazed at how well it works. I was reluctant to add Outshine in such large amounts due to the amount of negativity I'm reading about soy products - and whilst I don't know how much of it is true I only ever read good about rice bran so decided to go with that instead. I will continue to feed Outshine in small amounts for coat shine but I will use EquiJewel for condition in future - but of course that's just my opinion and I've been swayed by soya scaremongering :)

However I will say that the EquiJewel seems much more palatable to my fussy tb and it soaks better than Outshine, it goes very soft and almost fluffy even when just dampened for a few minutes. Outshine does soften when dampened but the core of the nugget seems to remain quite hard. I only dampen mine so if fully soaked for a few hours it may soften completely though.

I used outshine for my mare when she was in her 30's - she only lost 2 teeth before she died but they weren't in the best condition- i used to stick the outshine in the speedi beet i was soaking (or calm and condition at the time) - i'd leave for 40-50mins before feeding as although SB says "10mins" it always swells far more if left longer.

Outshine is fab, I'd just add some water to it, it will soak to a mush and then your oldie won't have to chew :) saying that equijewel or equivite body builder are both good too

Micronised linseed has helped my old mare loads, She has some teeth missing and was struggling to put weight on after the winter. I get it from charnwood mills it lasts ages and is in a powder so easy to mix with other feeds.
