ditto KatB, good stuff but expensive. depends what your feeding it for really, for weight gain its expensive as you need 4 cups a day, but if just for shine you can just give a cup a day so bag lasts a long time and you get a very shiney horsey
Expensive... I used it and then moved on to corn oil from the super market which has exactly the same effect but is much cheaper.
You can feed up to 250 ml of oil per day (average horse) without having to suplement selenium/Vit E. If you choose straight oil, build up slowly, literaly a teaspoon full at a time and spend all the money you save on something else.
I pay around £28-£32 a bag (depending on what shop i go to), personally i dont think its expensive. Depending on the size of your horse, and what you are feeding for, you will need anything from 1 - 6 cups a week, and therefore actually seems to last forever! The oil is balanced with vitamin e and selenium, which are vital for digestion of oil, and feeding staight oil can often lead to a deficiency in these, and it really is amazing at putting weight on and giving a shiny coat, I would be lost without it
. oop nearly forgot! No i have never found it heating, and ive fed it to a wide range of horses
I found Will looked great on it so am going back to it as not impressed with SS Total Eclipse. I used to feed between 1 and two mugs a day depending on the weather/work for coat condition and keeping condition. He's not a very good doer and prone to lami so have to be very careful what I feed.
A 30KG bag used to last me 3 months so I thought it was good value and more effective than straight oil which I've fed by the pint with no effect. It wasn't heating either.
