i was wondering if anyone has used this and if it is worth the money?

i am feeding two horses for weight gain. they are a 15.2hh andalusian and a 15.3 hunter type. the andalusian has been having one scoop of sugar beet and 2 scoops of alfa a oil twice per day. he was a also getting a scoop of dodson and horell barley rings in each feed. now he gets outshine that i am bilding up to half a scoop in each feed. his weight is picking up well.

the hunter has only had feed for a few weeks but his weight has not improved at all. he gets one scoop of alfa beet plus 2 scoops of alfa a oil in each feed he is also getting the outshine building up to 1/2 a scoop in each feed. i cant feed him sugar beet or the barley rings as he is very excitable and nervous.

i was wondering if the outshine would do the trick.

they are both out 24/7 with a medium weight on and unlimited haylege that a really good quality. the andalusian has just come back into work and the hunter will be coming into work as soon as he looks somewhat better.

I fed outshine to my boy last winter-he is a very poor doer & he did amazingly on it.
He maintained his weight throughout the winter (living out) and he had an incredible shine on his coat.

Well worth the £40 a bag price tag IMO! :)

I pay £31 a bag for the Outshine.

I have just started using it on my TB mare, she keeps weight ok, but has bad feet so the farrier said to use it to improve the condition of the wall of her hooves.

I have only been using it a week so no noticable difference yet, she gets a mug of it a day.

Try baileys No1 for weight gain or 14, it doesn't have Barley in it.

What works for one might not work for another.

Have they been wormed and teeth checked recently, might be a reason for not gaining the weight you'd like to see.

Sounds like you are doing the right thing though, he might just pick up weight at a seadier pace than the other.

i paid 32 pounds for the bag glad its not 40!
yeah they have all been wormed and they had their teeth done last year. prob they do need to be done again soon but he is not dropping any of the food at all.

i will keep up the outshine then and hopefully will see a differnce soon.

thanks

jezapie you say you are feeding Outshine but saying you are going to feed half a scoop full.

Outshine is feed in mugfulls each mug / measure is half a pound.

I would talk to Baileys they will help to give you a correct feed plan.

hi
it says on the back of the back to feed up to 900 grams for weight gain on a 15 to 16hh horse and 220g is about a mug full so i think it would be easier for me to feed half a scoop in eeach feed coming out at about 1000grams.
