Has anyone fed this or had any thoughts? I was looking for something extra for my 5 year old. His general condition is good but was looking for something "extra" as he is still developing muscle. I also wanted a probotic as, while outwardly chilled, I think he is still a bit on edge and stressy while settling in as evidenced by the huge number of droppings passed on hacks if in front, and on the lorry when he went out yesterday. The performance balancer looked to give me all that I wanted. I don't want a general balancer as he looks fine on his current hard feed so looking for a specific balancer that can give me the "extra" I wanted.

anyone? I am not after a general balancer but want the specific ingredients that this has but wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on it?

Hi, I am normally a TopSpec user and I tried it as it was cheaper. I spoke to Baileys first to check mine were doing enough work as it's marketed as a competition type product. They said mine were, and any horse that isn't simply a 'leisure' horse should be ok on it (but worth giving them a ring).

They looked and seemed fine on it, and I can't put my finger on it but they weren't quite as good as they are on TopSpec. I'm going to be useless here as I can't give you any concrete evidence but on it they just seemed in good nick, whereas on TopSpec they seem to be more than that.

I didn't try it long enough for my farrier to be able to comment on whether it made any difference good or bad to their hoof growth.

i use dengie performance vits and mins for a little extra and i'm happy with that
not tried the balancer but thought i'd throw something cheaper into the equation for you to consider ;)

Thanks guys!

I have ordered a bag of the Baileys after chatting it through with the local feed shop. My boy looks fine as is and is muscling up with his normal feed as testified when my lovely saddler played around with his saddle today after only 6 weeks with me. I will give it a try and see how he gets on and if not too impressive, might then switch him to a normal vits and mins plus another probotic.

Hey lucy07 did you know that if you get a vit/mineral supplement it will not have macro nutrients in it such as potassium or calcium as they are needed in higher amounts say 500mg. these supplements can not fit into 30g or 60g a day general vit/mineral supplement. also pro and prebiotics can't fit in either. Hence why feed balancer like baileys have all this in their feeds as it fits in a say 200g scoop of product. so you have macro, micro, vits, minerals and probiotics all in one feed all balanced

I use it on both mine boys and they both look well on it. They both get it fed along side Dengie Alfa A (dark blue bag) and the one who always lacks energy half a scoop of oats for him this works great for him but the oats were introduced very slowly and at different levels to get the right results.

morning horse 21, I know a bit about oats and I feed exactly the same way, chaff and oats. But my oats are germinating oats as all the so called normal oats the companies or farmers use stuff like round up( very very bad) to dry the crops much faster and that lands on your horses dinner plate. I get my oats from thunderbrook.co.uk they do not spray anything and the oats are barn store and are maturer. This means they can germinate and are alive! This is important as the starch levels are sooooo much lower and more bio available to your horse. soak them wash them twice a day with luke warm water and leave in the windowsill in the sun as they love warm moist. Then after few days you will see germination starting. you will have about 400 times more b vits and c vits and gosh list is long,so like baileys balancer you do not have to feed much. All in all baileys chaff and those oats at 200 g a day am and pm is great! hope this helps. ps those oats are 400 times higher in all minerals and vits. All the best to you x:)
