Does anyone feed these to their competition horses?
We dont have a lot of different types of feed available but I know this one is and its a very good price.
Basically Im looking for a feed for two horses that will event over the summer both are underweight after coming out of winter and both lack top line.

It says on the bag to feed on its own, is this what most people do? One of the horses needs more energy so will proabably continue getting oats with it.
Other horse has too much energy and is currently on mix and oats so these cubes would take the place of the oats.

I feed them on their own, and not even in a bucket, shocker! One TB and one 3/4 TB, eventing lightly at 90/100 with no grass to be seen yet, so they eat huge amounts of haylage and the cubes. Both super shiny and full TB looks better on these than anything else (which is a pain as they are sooo expensive!). Lots of pro yards feed cubes alone.
 
Thanks for answering, thats great to hear that horses are doing so well on them.

Iv seen them for just under 14 euro in a saddlery here which I think is ok, (the mix is 4 euro more expensive) might search the co ops to get a cheaper price.
But then again if they dont last long then they might end up terrible value.
Do ye mind me asking how many scoops a day are the horses fed?

Both horses are aimed at eventing 90s this year, one will only get one feed a day as he is out 24 7 with ponies that arent fed so he is fed when he is brought in to work and other horse will be getting two feeds a day and is in stable most the time.
 
If you look at the ingredients of these and the baileys racehorse cubes they are practically the same, but racehorse cubes are cheaper! I feed with chaff and sugarbeet. My tb is eventing and does well on this x
 
quantity wise 2 cups over winter (about 1/2 scoop?!) and normally 1 during summer when the grass is rich. Loobylu i havebeen known to feed them off the floor as well ;) :D

She is a KWPN as well so not a TB, but does very well off them. A bag lasts me ages, to the point I think I brought 3 bags total in the last 12 months!!!

I have also been feeding some lo-cal balancer as well as grass has been poor up until the last week or so but will tail that off again soon.
 
14 euros is a great price, I can't get them for less than £14 locally (limited storage so can't buy bulk). Mine are on 2 stubbs scoops a day each, split into am and pm feeds, which is the recommend amount for the 15.2 I think, and less than for the 17.2 who does a bit better.
 
Thats great that the horses seem to do so well on so little of it, as the horses are underweight il start feeding it with the oats or mix then once they are back in proper condition I can maybe move to feeding cubes alone.

Im very happy with all these positive reviews so will definately be picking it up this weekend.

There is a thread in the feed section about these. It basically confirmed that they are exactly the same as the Baileys Racehorse cubes (no.11?) but the race horse version is/was £1.50 cheaper. If this is what you want to feed then perhaps check to see if the same thing is available even cheaper under a different name? Marketing eh...
 
we used to feed our horses these (didn't need much either) and they went great on them; not fizzed up, but had enough energy and kept their condition well (even through the winter). Mine either get 1/2 a scoop or a scoop of nuts (depending which of my three it is!) and then a bit of chaff and sugabeet to make it a bit more exciting/slow them down :)

our yard owner however did find another brand (can't remember off the top of my head right now though) with the same ingredients and about half the price, so maybe have a bit of a search around?
 
I use the mix and it's made a huge difference to my comp horse. he was so skinny when I got him and he's now the correct weight.
I feed with chaff and sugabeet as well. both he and my oldie are on 1/4 scoop to maintain their weights
 
The same ingredients but half the price product which Mandymoo mentioned is properly Highlight Improver Cubes - Highlight being part of Baileys. If you can get them basically same product but a lot cheaper!

Really appreciate all the replies.
To those that are saying there are alternatives available, I mentioned in the OP unfortunately we really dont have a great choice of products here and these cubes and mix are the only tBaileys products available in the local saddlery, and iv never heard of the highlighter one but will look into it! Of course I could look further afield but im sure it wouldnt be long before the petrol cost and inconvienice out weigh the cheaper price!
The only other brand available close by is red mills but havent seen anything simialr by them.
These ones seem great anyway and Im particulary happy that people are eventing horses off them and are finding them perfect for it :)
 
I have just started eventing my boy on them this year. He is 17.2hh wb and does not hold his weight well. He's not a big eater and usually looks a bit too 'fit' but this year he is looking and feeling better than he ever has and he has plenty of energy and I'm not even feeding him that much. Probably a scoop and a half (round scoop) with a handful of alfa a and sugar beet split into 2 feeds.
I am very interested in researching the racehorse cubes for him just as a cheaper alternative (have 4 eventers in total to feed) could someone point me in the right direction for the other thread please?
