You might remember I posted a thread a few weeks ago looking for some turnout and in-hand tips for Bakewell show, for my coloured cob.

So we arrived at Bakewell far too early for the class. Luckily the weather was very nice, and Dolly was unusually chilled waiting on the trailer- as you can see!

After my mum had made about four 10 minute trips to see where the classes were up to, she came sprinting back to tell us we were one class away!

So, threw her bridle and walked down the rather long country lane to the main showground. Dolly was a little tense to begin with in the collecting ring- I don't blame her, as Bakewell is easily the biggest of the 4 shows she's every attended. After a few minutes however, she calmed down completely and then went on to behave like a seasoned pro- amazing for an inexperienced 4 year old.

Waiting to go in..

I came to this show not expecting any results, just to get some ring experience. However, to my surprise, WE WON OUR CLASS!

I had such a lovely day, and I couldn't have asked for better behavior from Dolly. Plus we won £20, our first ever prize money!! Such a great way to finish her first show season- she's now having a well deserved break.

CC welcome :) (sorry some pics are huge!)

We went to Bakewell Show this year; I have to say the most beautiful setting for a country show, incredibly picturesque! Glad you enjoyed your day too and very well done!

Glad you took our advice about the pelham. She looks super in it, and you obviously showed her well. Exciting times to come under saddle, I should think. Very well done!

Thank you all for the very kind comments. The judge also mentioned she was a little over weight , which is something we'd already identified and are working on- however I see this as a real improvement in the show ring with judges promoting fitter animals :-)
