i have noticed lately that i'm not very balanced on my mare, she is very green so when she gets unbalanced so do i. i don't have this problem when i ride my (schoolmaster) gelding, (who i reschooled, but he was never as green as my little mare) so what can i do to help myself become more balanced which hopefully in turn help her become more balanced.

i will just say its not all the time, its just the odd wobble every now and then when schooling.

Second getting your back checked. I wobble occasionally on my green mare because I have damaged my back, I can't balance as well as I used to.

Im the same with mare (well schooled, but been out of work for a while) but am fine on my gelding. I put it down to me not riding for a few months and needed to deepen my seat. Once I had deepened my seat and lengthened my leg it was better, but i still wobble occasionally. I just take it that i will wobble a little bit until she becomes more balanced as we cant always be in complete balance all the time!

I assume your saddle fits fine?

mostly i would expect this to improve as your horse becomes more balanced...its quite normal

but to improve your balance generally you need to work on your core muscles so look into trying some pilates or yoga...a class or a video would work...
