Hi Guys,

Have been feeding Saracen Essential balancer for a couple of months but i haven't seen much difference in my lad.

Any reviews on TopSpec? I'm interested in the joint balancer one.

At the moment he is fed 1 scoop of balancer, 1 scoop of alfa a twice a day with a joint supplement.

I absolutely love Naf Optimum, its received very mixed reviews, its around £22 for 5 week supply. I don't generally use a balancer all the time but as a pick me up its is amazing. Kept weight on 1 of my mares brilliantly, tried blue Chip, blue chip pro, top spec, 365 complete and couple others but none has worked as well

I like equimins advance complete as a vit and min supplement - both horses looking good on it. Have used baileys lo cal balancer in the past and that also helped (feet looked better and stopped eating poo/mud !)

I feed advance complete by equimins as my grazing is low copper and very high iron, the equimins has good copper levels and no iron so works well for me.
Topspec and such like would give so much more iron and no copper really so would be a complete waste of time and money feeding that. I do feel you need to know roughly what your grazing etc is like else you could do more harm then good.
NAF optimum is so so low in anything decent its a complete waste off money sorry

Sorry no idea on the joint one.
My boy gets the lite and there was a definite improvement in his general coat look and skin on it- he went onto it last year. We had the topspec lady out who came and weighed the yard and recommended what they should all be getting and I have to say most of them are looking good from it!

Used TopSpec Lite for a couple of years, liked it. Swapped to Spillers Lite about 4 months ago after helpful person dispatched to feed store bought the wrong thing!!! Horses enjoy it much more (lovely minty smell, they started trying to mug me for their feeds when I went in the stables until manners were reestablished!) So have stayed on Spillers. Very happy with it, boys look great on it.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

Just want to make sure he is getting what he should be, vits & mins etc

He doesn't need a specific diet, just nothing that will make him loopy!!

Feed companies iv called all say the same.. balancer and a chaff.

He can get a bit stressed at times but that's all.

One of mine is on Bluechip and I think it's really good. He loves it and looks really well (and hasn't gone loopy). The other 2 are very good doers so I have thought about the "diet" version but haven't tried it yet...

I love TopSpec Lite balancer & spooky horse has if anything improved since being on it, therefore I assume he was lacking something, although is still sharp.

Horse is now turned out 24/7 on Summer grazing and I am still feeding taking it day by day, I understand he needs all of his vitamins and minerals but also don't want him too fat however until now it is true to it's word and not allowing him to gain weight!!!

I've relatively recently started mine on topspec cool balancer and she looks seriously awesome. Her coat is like a mirror. I know it will take a few more months to see a real difference in her feet but I can already see glimpses of nice new growth. I'm not sure how it compares to other balancers but i am very pleased so far.

Followimg this with interest. Often think a balancer would be a good addition, mine literally has a scoop of agrobs musli twice a day, and a few supplements. Does anyone know how I can get my grazing tested?
