Bald patches in coat

9 year old retired warmblood has started developing small bald patches on her coat. They started over the winter so not a summer thing. They have appeared mostly on the underside of her neck but some around stifle area. Don't think it's a rug rub. I treated some as though ringworm but that had no effect. Does anyone have any thoughts on what might be causing the hair loss? I had a hair analysis done for her as she was in poor shape when I got her and it indicated low thyroid activity. Could that have something to do with it?

There is very little detail on equine hypothiroidism - in fact many experts say adult horses do not have clinical signs. Not impossible of course, but just limited published data. Without photos it is slightly hard to tell but what about rainscald? Have you hada vet come and take a scraping?
