Bald patches on horses neck?

My 2 year old has got bald patches where the skin is dry and scurfy they are on both sides of his neck is this some sort of skin problem or do you think it could be my TB causing the problem as when he used to be home he use to be always biting at his neck and i noticed this they day after he returned.
What do you think it could be?

Itchy? Could he be rubbing himself? I'd check his mane and neck for any creepy crawlies. If he's clear of mites or lice, maybe bathe his neck in something mild and soothing like Lavender Wash and see if that helps in the short term.

Like spyda said check him for lice, when i first got my horse he had bald patches all over him caused by lice.

If he has sweetitch then maybe it's sweetitch. They do get that on the body as well.
