I have attached two photos showing bald patches on the neck (above the horse blanket) and above the eye and on the side. Confused about what this could be, does not appear to be itchy although there is dandruff. Not on other horses.

Thank you Janet. Just wanted to mention that the little white specks in the photo are dandruff, there is some in the forelock area too. Is there something specific that looks like lice? I was thinking of that too but can't see any little critters in the area ...

You often don't get itching or rubbing with a mild infestation - and they can be hard to spot. I can't see them even with my reading specs!

i would also say lice as with this mild weather we have seen quite a lot of it

the flakes look like dandruff, not like rice which I read the lice eggs look like. what else should I look for to make sure it's lice? can't hurt to treat with lice powder anyway.
