Hi everyone,
So I have had a problem with my mare for quite a long time. She is a tricolour cob, sports horse. She gets three bald patches every summer but ONLY on her white parts. One is on the top of her bum, nowhere near her tail. One is on the side of her face and one is on her side under where the saddle would go.
They aren't itchy at all more sore, she doesn't rub them as been keeping an eye for years, I've had the vet and he said insect allergies but its only on the pink skin and ALWAYS in the same places. She doesn't get it in the winter EVER, the field isn't muddy, it's not wet and shes been rugged and not rugged and still gets it.
Ive tried insect shampoo, fly spray, wonder gel, sudocream, suncream, oatmeal shampoo, aloe vera, a skin ailment cream and mite powder and none have worked, all have been used for at least 6 months at a time, the hair falls out with her winter coat and then gets sunburnt and goes flakey, it's white, never dirty as I groom her alot and the hair sticks up.
Just wondering if anyone has any clue what this is?
My next step is a biopsy but wanted to see if anyone had any ideas first.
Thanks.
