How long would you expect a big bale of haylage (green wrapped type) last 5 horses? Morning and night nets for example? (Let's say an average of 15.2hh medium build! ;) )

:)

it should be used up in 3 to 5 days esp with the temperatures getting warmer. if it lasts you longer than this then you could risk youor horses well being as it starts to forment and go off.

My 7 are fed add lib and a bale lasts 4 days currently but like ofcourseyoucan said with the weather getting warmer it will go off, my supplier said when I fed per day like you are not to cover the bale when it gets warmer.

A large bale (300kg approx) lasts our 4 horses 7 days - 2 large nets per day and around the same size and build as yours.

We have stopped feeding haylage now, but with the last couple of bales I took all the wrap off, opened them right out and let the sections breathe, and it lasted fine that way.

We had 6 eating adlib and they lasted 5days. Feed as a net i'd guess 7days.

How long it'll keep depends how dry it is: we've had some wet ones barely lasting 4days in winter yet dry bales still good after 2weeks.
