I am heading up to Newcastle after work to visit my dad and have a relaxing couple of days up 'norf!

I have been toying the with idea of going on a beach ride (used to go on them when I was younger) but as the weather got bad at the start of the week, I decided to give it a miss!

Anyway, I have been persuaded to book one and am going tomorrow morning :D

Its a 2 hour beach ride, going to Bamburgh beach and to see the castle, which I am sure will be lovely.

Anyone ridden/rides along the beach before, and got any advise on what I am in for?

Thanks :)

I'm SO jealous!!! My aunt and uncle live in Bamburgh and my parents live in Seahouses. Can I come too please? It's a fab beach for riding on and very beautiful. Have fun :D

It's absolutley fab. Great long beach with the back drop of the castle and local forcast is bright in the morning, good footing for the horses too. You'll love it!

Ahhhh great thanks guys!!!!

The stables are situated in Seahouses so will be heading off from there!

Really looking forward to having a good blast, just that the doctor ordered :D

Suziq77 - do you live near Seahouses?!! Come along, I only booked it this morning so I'm sure they will have room for one more!!!!! :)

Yes I have from a place called Slate Hall, it was fab. I went in November so just the two of us and a giant beach! Bit chilly at the moment though (soft southerner alert!).

That beach is superb to ride along!! :D Are you going with Slate Hall?? ETA- Just read other posts, you'll have a fab time with them! I remember riding a little mare called Cookie there, and she was wicked to have a blast on. Got told off for over taking the lead rider though! :o

All I will say is that if the planes are flying over, hold on really chuffing tight!! Haha. Enjoy it! :D

ETA again... http://www.slatehallridingcentre.com/slatehallgallery.html Picture 6 and 8, Cookie is the little coloured mare ;) :D Makes me want to go back again!!

OMG, why!!!? :S :D

I am a bit nervous actually, I bought a baby horse last year, and it has been a while since I have had a good old gallop (we are talking a year)! eek.

I'll have to update on who I am put on - Hopefully someone who will look after me. ha.

I used to ride from the stables at Haggerston Caravan site when I was younger, not been to Slate Hall before!

I live a few miles away and know the beach well. It is stunning, a lot of TV adverts are filmed here as the scenery is so great. The castle is very dramatic looking. Lindisfarne (Holy Island) is nearby too.

I haven't ridden there (Alnmouth is closer to me - another great beach) but we walk the dog there. Weather is fab atm so hopefully it will hold out for you.

Don't worry about the low flying aircraft. Its only when the RAF are on exercise and its been very quiet lately. I haven't heard anything for about a month.

Enjoy!
