i feel i should..... got my ponies in about 2 mins to late.. heard a Phhhhhhhhewwwwwwwwwww Bang... followed by lots of hooves tearing down the elec fencing!!

I cannot vote for this though, i love fireworks too much!!

Not going to sign it even though I nearly got blown up by one last night, my love for them is just too great

i dont think they should be banned for good. you should just have to apply for a licence or something to be able to buy them or hold a display

I think it shouldn't be sold to the PUBLIC..

I'm completely with you on this - I don't think they should be for sale in places like tesco, and I don't think just anybody should be able to buy.

How ridiculous to want a pemanent and full ban. They should be restricted as to who can buy them,

big fireworks used to be sold only to those running public displays, i wish it would go back to that tbh. i just keep thinking about that poor pony that ran around frantically until he poleaxed himself on a street light...

i quite like fireworks from a distance, but otherwise no... just expensive pretty bombs.

I agree with the others, there should just be organised displays and not be sold to every Tom, Dick and Harry!
I love fireworks and the horses weren't too bothered and the dogs don't seem to mind either. I think its to do with the way you are with dogs. Too many people praise their dogs for negative behaviour when a firework goes off.

I am quite surprised I have to say, I would have thought that on a forum for horse owners/riders the majority of people would welcome this ban!! how wrong I was.Where I live in Derbyshire fireworks will be let off from the end of October until the begining of January one of my dogs is petrified to leave the house and I have to keep her on a lead when I do get her out.But hey lets not spoil any ones fun.

The pub a few doors up the road from us had fifteen minutes of the biggest bombs you could imagine going of last night, ( second time since august), i had the telly turned up and meatloaf playing load on cd , a small dog underneath a cusion and hanging on to the other one so he didnt dig himself under the sofa.OH was at the field with the horses tering round in panick. THIS IS WRONG!! Why should i be subjected to this in my own home, if people choose to burn money just chuck a handful of twenties on the fire and spare the rest of us!!

QR
I'm sorry, but the world can't stop because our animals don't like it. Asking for a total ban is completely ridiculous.

QR.. its not just for the animals , why should I have to be subjected to other peoples so called entertainment, if they were playing over lloud music i could call the police or the council and get it stopped. I dont force my noise on other people, but it seems if i don't like f fireworks i'm a killjoy.

I am a dog, cat and horse owner and none of them are particularly bothered by them.

I think it is the irresponsible use of them that needs to be dealt with. so perhaps not selling them to the general public would be a good move... but banning them alltogether - ridiculous!

My horses watched them with interest and were not bothered in the slightest.

My dogs don't mind them either...one of them is daft enough to try and jump up to catch them.

I wont be signing...sorry- enough of a nanny state already.

I dont think there should be an outright ban, but should be restricted to licenced displays only. Since thursday though we have had fireworks going off continuosly and last night they started up after 9pm with some of the biggest rockets i've seen and heard. With this D has been in a state of terror all weekend, completely freaked out, trashed his stable and is a nervous wreck still. I had to resort to sedating him before he injured himself. The nervous one wasnt too bad, just wasnt overly happy with the big bangs where as the midget loved it, stood there watching. At one point he did get bored and lay down and went to sleep. The dog wasnt overly impressed either but he went to bed. Tbh i'd much prefer it, if they only had licenced displays as personally cant stand fireworks, hate anything that bangs.
