I do care for all my animals, can't say im overly bothered about fireworks either way, but not for a total "ban" (extreme?!) doesnt not mean i dont care...

(p.s all 25 horses on our yard were fine, i even clipped one who was asleep while they were going off, and my dog who is scared of most things wasnt bothered either he just thought someone was banging on the door so barked and wagged his tail waiting for them to come in!! - so clearly not ALL animals are bothered by fireworks)

I have to say, by the time it got to Saturday I was sick to the back teeth of the blummin things. The people across the road from us felt the need to spread their bonfire party across Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I mean c'mon have a bit of consideration for everyone else. If you're going to have a bonfire party fine, have one but just because everyone can't come on the night doesn't mean to say you need to run it over a period of 4 sodding days.

My horses, who were out in the fields were fine and so were Mika and Flyn, it was me who went into meltdown at 10pm on Sunday night after having to sit through Doc Marten feeling like the Americans were outside demonstrating a display of awe and destruction.

I like one or two fireworks but once you've seen a couple you've seen em all. Why can't people just be happy with sparklers?

Fireworks are banned in South Africa and you can be arrested if you use them, unless you get a permit to set them off in a designated area. It doesnt seem to make a jot of difference though, there are still morons that set them off.

I still agree with the ban though, stupid waste of money.

I do not like them and would not buy them, they are not what they used to be, more like mini explosives than pretty lights in the sky, but i would not want them banned completly, i think there should be more control on who they are sold too and organised events are good and the way forward i think.

I'm an animal lover but I don't want them banned either & what would be the point?
Banning drugs hasn't stopped people taking drugs has it?
It would just be more useless legislation for people to ignore.

I have nothing against fireworks per se but what I do not understand is the need to spread Bonfire Night over several nights. Back when I was a child (some time ago now) Bonfire Night was exactly that - fireworks were let off on 5th November regardless of which day of the week it was or whether or not it was raining etc and that was it . . end of. Bonfire Night round by me this year was the quietest I have ever known. I literally heard about half a dozen fireworks and that was all so I was a bit concerned as to what the weekend would bring. There were a few more on Friday (what was wrong with Thursday 5th then?) and more on Saturday.

Because we suffer with the hooligan element in today's society, I'm not happy with fireworks being on sale to the general public and the fact that although there is legislation surrounding the sale of fireworks, no-one seems to adhere to it. It seems pointless to me having legislation that is not enforced. As someone else pointed out elsewhere, they are explosives at the end of the day yet are available to anyone regardless of age, it would seem.

i love fireworks

) horse watches with interest and isnt stressed. having not been in a situation where they've caused me any problems i love them!!!

Must admit I don't think they should be banned - nanny state and all that - to be honest I stood in the conservatory with our 2 cats on the windowsill watching the fireworks, both horses had their heads out watching also, chickens fine too - not one stressed animal there.

I understand some animals are distressed about them but I don't believe they should be banned
