Gosh.... That kinda makes me not want to ride my horse in a bit or watch the grand national. ( that's the int horse race I will watch) that's quite shocking. How do you feel about it badgermyers?
although the video shows there are some truly appalling riders to be found in competition and the makers certianly went out of their way to include clips of the very worse and abusive riding they could find and while this riding is not excusable, thankfully it is not typical.
It is an extremist, scare mongering video made by the type of blinkered people that would only be happy if all domesticated horses were set loose on Dartmoor to be 'wild' again.
As for the animation of the skull on fire with pain because it has a bit in its mouth, a bit is only as harsh or mild as the hands that hold it.
yes... there will be people with good hands and people with bad hands but that is the fault of the PERSON not the bit.
any artificial aid can be an instrument of pain if used abusively but once again, the problem is the person not the equipment.
the makers of this particularly charming video will probably only be happy once people are banned from riding horses full stop so beware.
Its a load of rubbish, the guy with the moustache who thinks he's making some point by looking shocked at the camera while he breaks a model horse's plasticine jaw by pulling on a set of reins with the obvious implication that a pelham bit is some kind of torture instrument worthy of Guantanamo Bay- looks like a sex pest.
..and the music's dire.
The fact that the none of the bits in the skeletal model were sat where they're supposed to to start with is a bit poo.
Interesting they link bits to competition...what about hackamores and Dr.Cooks?!
Am I the only one who giggled that the boy pulling the reins on the plastic horse's head was dressed in full riding gear, including hat?
Why would you dress like that in a lab? Except to make an emotive point.![]()
