Henry was a lovely boy yesterday. As always, he behaved beautifully, totally non stressed by the whole affair.
Weather was perfect, he enjoyed a pick of grass before we had to get ready and also met three generations of carthorse girls, which was lovely!
I felt our test was OK but far from our best. For some reason he decided to step back in every halt we had to do which is something he used to do when I first had him 3 years ago but he hasn't done it in ages.
Instant 5 for those which is very costly as there are 3 halts in the PSG and he normally gets 7s.
On the plus side we got an 8 for our 5x 4time changes and the trot lateral work was better than usual, which has always been his achilles heel.
However, the no whip for championships rule is very much to his liking, not that I actually use it in a test really, and as the test progressed, he got further and further behind my leg.
The final extended canter across the diagonal was more like a gymkhana race than an elegant extension!
So, although I was disappointed with our score of just under 61%, I was satisfied with our 6th place. If we'd performed to our very best, we only ever could have been 3rd as the winner and second were lovely and way ahead of us, (as yet).
No pics as yet from yesterday, they will be online but not for about two weeks as the SJ Finals are after the BD ones and photographers are flat out until then.
We did go to Manor Farm on Sun though and pics are here....
