lol coco refuses to eat bananas, I offered him a bit of mine everyday last summer and everyday he would snif it and scrunch his nose up and carry on with his hay
We wondered if it was a coloured thing as my friends coloured cob loves them as well but none of the others in the yard do and none of them are coloureds.
My mare does but neither of the boys will touch them! Millie is bay so that might blow the coloured theory out of the water!
A word of warning on the skins though. I was told that, because they are porous, they absorb any pesticides, chemicals etc that the fruit or surrounding areas have been treated with. Millie now has them peeled - unless she reaches the bunch before I do!!
Mine is such a pig, will try anything,however....since trying a bannana last summer and getting it stuck to the roof of his mouth he declines when offered these days, lol!!Was blooming funny to watch though!!
, he'll usually eat the skin as well, except for once when he ate it off the box, managed to squeeze out the banana and then threw the skin at me (lush).
He usually slobbers all over my hand once has had a banana, doubley yummy for me
havnt tried earl with them yet,he eats everything i will try him with one and see what he thinks,if he likes them then we will have to grow a banana tree in the paddock !! lol
Had a pony when younger on loan and was told he needed to be fed a whole banana once a week due to potassium or something like that!!! Every since all ours eat the skins, they generally are as keen on the actual flesh in my experience!!!! But mine hate black or green ones, gotta be just right for them!!!
Mine eats them including the skin, it comes from showing in the summer when I eat them a lot! Horse thinks if mum eats it then it must be for Darcies too!
My wife's Chesnut New Forest mare will mow you down for bananas, with or without skins, and she really likes to be hand fed squishy bits...YUK!
Our NF gelding hates them, and it is really funny seeing him eating around pieces in his bucket. He also ate half of a whole unpeeled one (they had one each) and turfed the other half out of his bucket with his nose in disgust, the look he gave it, you would have sworn he thought I was trying to poison him (which made me laugh).
Mine loves them, introduced the foal to them and she's pretty keen too! Also grapes, and the best ever, a whole pineapple, held the stalk and he ate the lot, I was covered in juice!
