Has anyone fed them to horses and is it safe to do So? Have some left over bananas here but think I've heard mixed things over if they can be fed to horses. How about the skin? Obviously don't want to upset his tummy or give colic etc so would rather bin them if it's not reccomended but if they are fine I'll try him with them!

A friend used to feed bananas to her horses - 1 loved them the other was not so fussed.
Equally bananas that are too brown for eating are perfect for banana cake if you fancy a bit of baking instead :)

I have fed horses bananas (no skin) and they loved them, they love grapes even more. I also share bananas with my German Shepherd. They are his favourite treat.

Mine love them! The younger one took a few goes, but she'll even eat the skins now :) Healthy sweet treat!

My Arab loves them and will also eat the skins. The other one isn't so keen, so I think they might be a slightly marmite food for horses!

one loves then and the other not too fussed but eats to stop anyone else having it.
i feed whole with skins.

i do think bananas are an acquired taste for horses.

I have one that adores bananas, three that dislike them, will take them then spit them out and I haven't tried my new mare, the wee chap that adores them would eat as many as he could given the chance, he gets one and always wants more!

Both mine love them, the younger one watched the other eat them before deciding they were OK but he does that with everything. I feed whole including skin but they are organic so I don't have to worry about pesticides in the skin.

There was a study done a while back to see if the phosphlipids in them helped give protection against ulcers, suspect you'd have to feed in huge quantities to get any effect even if it did help but not harmful.

Three of mine show no interest in them, and the fourth thinks they're terrifying! :D

my boy loves bananas and even tries to get the skins out the poo bucket, like his mum eats them very quickly. livery also feeds her pony bananas with no problem.
