I'm into month 2 of dealing with a puncture wound on my mare's knee. Last Thursday the vet removed some proud flesh and said to dress it with steroid cream and keep it bandaged. She is on 24/7 turnout but the weather has been dry so it's been working fine. It still needs few more days treatment and we are about to get 3 days of rain. She gets very stressy inside so box rest isn't an option.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep her bandage dry? Or if I should leave it off until the dry weather returns on the weekend?

Everyone is probably too busy being jealous of the fact that you've had no rain, to find the time to reply :)

Do you have vet wrap? Why not cover your bandage with plastic (say supermarket plastic bag or such) and secure it with vet wrap.

best wishes for continued healing

Plenty of vet wrap with duct tape over the top (obviously not onto horses skin/hair)? Regular bandage changes so any wet and muddy dressings are not left on too long.
Sounds like a tricky one - good luck!

use a disposable nappy they are the right shape for knees and hocks and also have a slight drawing action so will remove any gunk from the wound, cover with gaffa/duct tape to secure
