I knew a mare that was banded, the sarcoid fell off but the root was too deep, in the end she used blood root ointment. worked a treat and you dont even know where it was!
My mare had the liverpool cream. I dont have any before pics but the sarcoid was originally the small lump in the middle. The cream ended up being smudged around the whole thing, hence the size. This is after the applications
It began to heal from the outside in and then just dropped off. I have some photos on my phone but have to go to work so will upload them later. It dried up and the scab dropped off. Im really pleased with it.
Well, I've been talking to the vet, who checked PF over the other day and she says PF's 'nodule' isn't suitable for banding as it's sitting right on a big fat vein, nor can it be surgically removed
. Camrosa hasn't worked and I've ordered some Thuja cream and pills as I've heard good things and that it won't actually do any harm if it doesn't do any good. I'll read up on bloodroot ointment as that would be another option if Thuja doesn't work.
Thanks
My mare had a horrid sarcoid on her flank. We tried to band it off but the bands wouldn't stay on. So the vet used cryo-surgery, basically froze it off like a wart. It wasn't very nice - took weeks to die and then it exploded (YUCK), but it never came back and didn't scar.
Our vets have put bands on sarcoids on one of our mares which did work and hasn't grown back yet (about a year on) and believe us, it was huge! It will probably grow back but is right in the middle of her belly so isn't causing a problem as such.
Have you spoken to your vet about laser surgery on it? Rossdales Newsletter arrived a few days ago and there was a mention in there about lasers now being used for sarcoids(and also when we went to their grand opening day they specifically mentioned how good it is for sarcoid removal). It's definitely an option we will ask about if and when we need to. Look up Rossdales new website because I'm sure there is a piece on there about it. Hope it works for you.
My Girl had one lasered off on Wed, it wasnt very big about a 50 pence piece, she now has a hole in her shoulder, when you move the skin you can see the muscle underneath, so many people keep going urhhhh!!! My girl didnt even have a drop of blood I was so impressed.
The vet said that it wasnt suitable for creams as its under the rug and the cream wouldnt stay on!!!
These were taken just after the sarcoid dropped off. It took about 6 weeks to drop off. It looks really sore but it wasnt, it was just like a scab. It dried up and the scab peeled off. I'll try to take some of it now when I get chance, its just a tiny bald patch and the hair should grow back.
