Will the vets do this?

My 3 year old has got 1 that will easily be banded as it has a stalk . Really annoying as she didn't have it a couple of months ago when i bought her !!!

I know a girl at my old yard did it herself but i would rather the vet see it first
we used liverpool cream on a couple at my old work but i think banding would be better for this 1.

Anyone had any experiences?

I have banded a sarcoid before, and it's important to treat the root when it comes off - sure your Vet will advise.

Some Vets will band and some won't - all bar one sarcoid that I had frozen off because it was close to the eye I have treated myself.

Thanks :) what did you use to band?

so would you need to use Liverpool cream once banded to treat the leftover area?

Some vets will use an elastrator ring :) We had one tied off with string but that sadly didn't work. It has to be the right sort of sarcoid to work and as we all know you don't want to annoy a sarcoid but not kill it!

Thanks thats really helpful definitely going to get a vet opinion as she is a cracking little mare & i wouldnt want to make things harder than it needs to be !

We had one banded at the end of December/start of January time? It came off within 10-12 days but the wound it left still isn't fully healed now! I wouldn't say it's the most effective form of removal by far, the after care is quite great!

I banded a big stalky one. Found it easiest to use a tail hair (donated kindly by the patient), tie it in a slip-knot to get it around the sarcoid, then wind it around and around until I ran out of hair. Worked a treat. Did not have to treat the stalk. There was a small knobble for a couple of weeks, but now, 3 years on, there's no trace whatever, and no recurrence.
