I have just bought a new horse who is by Bandmaster, he is an absolute gentlemen but definately a bit quirkt round the edges. For instance, he's very mouthy, loves to throw anything within reach of his stable door, has a special rolling spot in the field, wallows like a hippo, sits up like a dog and then rears, stays perfectly still for a good few seconds and then head down to eat. :-) I've never met a horse quite like him and wondered if, as I've heard, that alot of Bandmaster offspring have distinct personalities?

Not personally, but my friend has a 17.1 liver chestnut gelding by Bandmaster. He is now out on permanent loan. Frankie is a real character and has a fab temperament, very gentle and easy to do.
Has been known as 'Sicknote' and 'Prittstick' for years because he is forever injuring himself or at Death's Door with some illness or other, bless him! :D

Hi, interesting what you say debsg, as I have a couple of friends with Bandmaster offspring who are also permanently injuring themselves. Neither would be capable of competing now. Their temperaments are all nice enough, perhaps a little wimpy at times with a tendancy to through hissy fits where most others wouldn't!

There seems to be a huge amount of Bandmaster projeny around at the moment, not sure why!! The ones I've met are nice but don't float my boat!

Saying that I'm sure there are plenty of lovely Bandmaster babies about, sounds like yours has captured your heart already islandspirit :)

Good luck in the future with him xx

I've got a youngster by Bandmaster.

He has the mos lovely temperament but is quirky at the same time. A 11 year old happily leads him around, takes rugs off etc.. and the horse is not even 3 yet and only had 2 months handling.

I am looking forward to breaking him in as I think it'll be... err.... interesting but fun!

Hi, I have bred 2 foals by Bandmaster, full siblings, and they are like cheese and chalk. One thing to say though is that they are both incredibly easy to do and aim to please.
I can definitely say, that they are not quirky or difficult!

Hi- I have just seen this thread- I too have a Bandmaster horse- a 16.2h bright bay gelding. he was bred in Devon, but is now with me in Norfolk. 9I am from Devon originally) I never see any other Bandmaster horses around these parts!

My horse too is very mouthy- loves to play with his lead rope as i bring him in from the field and will throw his head collar on the floor if its hung next to his stable. He is also quite stubborn and frequently throws toys out of the pram when asked to do something properly! Can also be a little bit of a wuss XC.

But he is very well put together- and i get frequent compliments on him:D

Does anyone else event theirs?

Same here used to have one he was very mouthy too loved to play but very easy, willing to please, easy to do lovedpeople total show off in field if u were watching he'd rear and buck and throw himself around as soon as no one around he'd stop and eat lol such a sweet heart very easy to ride never put a foot wrong

I have a two year old by Bandmaster. He is a real sweetie in every respect. V successful when shown as a yearling (won RIHS). Beautifully put together and moves like a dream. First time I have had a youngest (under 4) in 20 years. Couldn't resist him.

He is a show off though - makes sure everyone has seen him (horse and human) before he settles down to graze !
