This weekend BF and I went off to Edinburgh. Back very late last night. The boys had a local SJ'er come and do them at home; they seem happy and settled this morning.

I think I'm too exhausted to do much with them this morning!

On Thursday, to give them some work before we went, I took both out together. First time ride and leading on the Trans Pennine Trail and they were both good.

This week I need to jump H as I didn't last week and I do try to give him a jump every week. He isn;t the brightest and could quite easily forget what to do 🤣 I will also box out some time to do a good hack, somewhere for a canter and maybe a jump.

Weekend got off to a rough start with the Appy tying up out of the blue on Saturday. Usually there has been something to trigger her PSSM but her muzzle has been on & nothing stressful happened. The only thing I can think of is the sudden weather change.

Fortunately she was moving around OK if stiff yesterday morning so I took the microcob showing. We aren't really showing ready (dodgy clip still growing out!) but she held her own with some nice comments from the judge. There was a cracking piebald cob which was immaculately presented which beat us at everything and got the in hand championship. I'm OK losing to a cob of that quality!

Chiltern Rides today for a superb ride around the Getty estate on the hooligan who behaved impeccably. He's very, very fit and charged up the hills like they weren't there.

Quiet week ahead - busy at work 😕

Done just done a [quiet] bit of schooling playing with baby shoulder in and travers as she was way to giddy to do any proper canter work with the appropriate feet on the ground. They've all gone a bit wild, lots going on at the yard, grass coming through and it's suddenly gone very cold at night so I was very pleased with her most keeping a lid on it, especially compared to some of the other liveries. She wouldn't even let me get on Thursday as there was a big bonfire going so I think she decided it was safer for me to be on the ground 😂 no problems mounting this weekend. Today she was chill with the tractor rumbling by every 5 minutes carrying various weird things 🦄

I went to a RC training session at a venue only a few miles away where I've never been before. I have had a very, very difficult 6-9 months with Madam but we transitioned to a different diet & OMG she has gone from an unrideable nightmare to a perfectly compliant, normal horse within about 6 weeks! I was absolutely beaming from ear to ear today. Long may it continue :)

Busy day today, after the weekend away. The horses now have a lawn attached to their terrace, attached to their stables, and that also gives direct access into their field. They have more options. Today was moving the energiser and solar panel to accommodate the changes and cutting grass as they are both fat!

This evening we did a ride out, Boyfriend had H and I rode Riggers. Poor BF had his first nuts/saddle unexpected interface at canter whilst ducking for a low branch. He yelped a bit but a pint at the pub seemed to make it better 🤣

Poor BF - I'm never quite sure what to say to blokes when that happens!!

Either we will be filming our first online dressage test since last summer, and our first ever prelim!! or we will be just de-spooking at a new arena. Either way that's training baby!

Lesson last night was great, it finally feels like riding lessons and not therapy (for both pony and me) 😂. Centre lines okay, trot work has never been better, halts we got some great tips, canter circles are bloody dodgy but have to start somewhere! 😂

Spa day is a good idea too!
We didn't get a test filmed but I am still delighted at our little trip! Both mares coped so well with a 40 min hack over, new venue for both of them, it was windy so we had flags on flag poles making a racket, and they were setting up a course in the adjacent arena so we had quads and jump wings falling over and poles being dropped from behind a hedge and a digger going round and extremely dead christmas trees being dragged about 😂 Trotted a couple of circles, spooked at some haylage bales, tried to use a loose XC jump as a step, got kisses and carrots from my friends kids who she loves, hack home again with about 30 mins of cow parsley breaks. GOOD GIRLS. I rode like shit but I still rode!

Last night the farmer had put cows in the field next to our home arena so I did the smart and did some groundwork, and she was fine! She has come such a long way with cows!

Blue was a nightmare to lead over to the showground, but settled as soon as she was around other horses. Our ring was running VERY late, so we ended up hand grazing for two hours, which got her even more bloated and happy!

But she behaved pretty well in the ring, so we came away with a first and a third, and didn't disgrace ourselves.
