That would shed the horses mouth to pieces. I know "bits are only as harsh as the hands that use them", but just having those edges on their tongue/bars would hurt. God knows why it in production

Completely agree. Being human though, even the riders with the quietest of hands can make a slight mistake.

Slight mistake with this could be potentially catastrophic for the poor animal enduring it.

EDIT: the website says it is designed specifically for drafts or mules :/

I thought draft horses was usually bred to be gentle giants, so why would you then need to put that thing in their mouths to control them?

And in the info it says that it is suitable for horses that is "Finished and obeys commands", have "Advanced skills" and "Calm mindset", so again, why would you then need to put that thing in their mouth?

Not quite the worst factory (as opposed to things like the hand made 'dancing horse' bits etc.) made bit I've seen. A friend of mine had an American show equipment catalogue. There was a chainsaw bit in there, bicycle chain and what was basically a saw blade. :(:eek: There were also weighted chains for putting round pasterns and tail sets. Lots of other bizarre and cruel items, all legal in some states and easy to obtain over there. :(
 
That's awful, and I agree; barbaric.
That bit would actually make a horse bolt, It would be in so much pain, it's flight reaponse would kick in surely? Or produce a rearer?

I wonder what kind of person would put this item of torture in anything's mouth? I'd be interested in meeting them and askng them for a valid reason for their choice of bit.
 
It could cause bolts or rears, but if that was in my mouth I'd submit and do anything I was ask in fear of being jabbed as punishment. Until a horse understands this though I'm sure a lot of damage would already be done :/
