I need new wellies and have officially given up on Hunters now my current ones have split. Has anyone got/had either of the above and were they any good/longlasting? Thanks!

I have never spent as much on a pair of wellies (or human footwear) in my life as I just did on some Aigle Parcours. I have no idea how long they will last but they are heaven to wear. I can't cope with great clumpy soles, I seem to trip over all the time and walk very oddly.... but these have a fab depth of sole with excellent grip without being clunky.

:)

I looooove my Ariat musbusters, they are heaven in a welly! The thing you have to remember with ariat is their amazing customer service - it really is fab. I bought some mudbusters

....... (sorry, on phone!) which cracked quite quickly - I was disappointed as obviously theyre not the cheapest out there. Contacted them and sent them pictures, they sent me a replacement pair free of charge which were delivered the next morning - couldn't have asked for more and was definitely the best customer service I've ever received. And on the plus side,
my replacement musbusters have been used twice a day for quite a long time now and are still going strong!! Comfiest wellies I've ever worn, and keep your feet so warm x

I too gaveup on Hunters - OH kindly bought me a pair of Le Chameau. Not the top of the range leather lined (really eek price) but the neoprene lined (semi eek price) Now going into their 3rd winter and sooo worth the initial outlay, best wellies I've ever had and would definitely buy again. Friend bought a pair different model) at roughly same time and love theirs too.

after 40 odd years of expensive wellies I've gone back to cheap green farmers wellies. put a wellie sock inside and wear woolly socks. warm as toast and cheap too.

Don't know about Barbours but I would never buy a pair of Ariat. They are all made in china. Which means you're paying a premium price for what? there heritage and tradition....I think not. If you look at their website, it's deliberately misleading and doesn't mention China. Perhaps names like Windermere and Grasmere should be called the Guangzhou and the Xiangtan. The best boots still made in Europe are Aigle even Le Chameau are made in Morocco.

Aigle boots are made to cope with urine etc. I bought mine earlier in the year and have used them twice a day most days since then and they have been fab. They were £65 but worth it.

Very sorry to read about some of the short lifespans of the Mudbusters... because I love mine, they are the comfiest thing I ever thought you could be in a welly boot. Happily mine are looking pretty pristine after 15 months but at least now I am forewarned if they decide to pop their clogs before time.

My ariats only lasted 12 months :( wasn't impressed.

pfff...12 months? thats an eternity for Ariat! In 2 years I have gone thru 6 pairs -thats one pair of mudbusters, and 5 of Ariat h20 tellurides-worn every other day oiled & allowed to dry naturally..supposedly the h2o means waterproof..I beg to differ..I think it refers to the collecting & holding of water...and keeping the field dry! Imanaged to kill a pair of Mudbusters in 5 months over this same period & am also on my third nearly killed pair of Muck Boot Company Tack wellies.(I think thats the model)The first pair of Muck Boot Co wellies lasted about 11 years of abuse..the clogs did too..the second pair 3 months & the third just 5.very feeble. I find Hunters cold, flimsey & slippery...can't push to some Dubarrys at the mo so was considering some Rigger Boots instead..if they can survive oil rigs & building sites I'm sure they can outlast my ariats & muck boots plus they are steel toe & sole. Will watch with interest to what everyone else has....did wonder tho.. I know this is a feeble pair in price,at £36 plus vat uless you fit the kids size.. but is it the woof insulated wellie x riding boot hybrid (black with reflectors?) I was considering those as look comfy warm & waterproof..can anyone confirm this or enlighten me further??

Hmm I will look into Aigle then. Can't do cheap farmer wellies, too heavy/clompy...I saw the Woof insulated ones but my mud is SO deep I need proper 100% waterproof Wellies. Oh Hunters; life used to be so simple, why did you have to let the side down!?

Dubarry of Ireland err no. Made in China. I know they're supposed to be good but why aren't they upfront. It's not until you open the box and find the little label inside (not to mention the child's fingerprints) do you find out they're made in China. I, like everyone else, buy Chinese products but I don't expect to taken for a mug and be misled when paying out for so called premium products.

You've probably noticed. This is one of my pet hates

I've had my Mudbusters for 4 years now and still going strong, although reading this I wish I'd bought 2 pairs now! They have not been looked after in any way, shape or form (maybe I ought to change that...) and I shall be very upset when they do die as no idea what to replace them with!

Having been through every wellie known to man, I have gone back to the cheapie green Dunlops. They are not 'clumpy' but you do need thick socks in winter.

I got mine for £6.99 and go through a pair every 18mnths approx, whereas my last pair of £70 wellies lasted 5 mnths - go figure!!!?

I've gone back to the cheapy ones too (although I refuse to throw my ariats away because they're just so comfy!) and believe it or not Lidl have had some in recently for £10 that are a very similar shape to the mudbusters. They're no more clunky and are quite warm with wellysocks in!

Likewise. I bought some Aigle Parcours in the "summer" when all my other ones had split or were leaking and soon found them too hot. So bought some cheapie green dunlops and I have been very impressed with them. I'm actually wearing them more than the Aigles. I shall be trying them with heatholder socks shortly. I don't think they'd be up to much in thick mud though, they would come off very very easily I'm sure.

I adore my muck boot tynes! Only had them a few months, but they are holding out much better than the hunters did! I dog walk for a living, plus doing the neddy and riding, so they are getting plenty of hammer.

OK, in case you were all desperate for an update, I got fed up with wet feet today and paid a flying visit to my local tack shop where they had a reasonable selection of boots including the Le Chameau All Track Country Lady for which I duly parted with £80. I was assured that they last a long time and I note they have a 2 year guarantee so hoping I have made a Good Decision! Thanks for the advice it was all taken on board.

Made In PORTUGAL NOT CHINA I realise they are not as good as the Irish Made earlier Boots But mine have been fine and mine were certainly made in Portugal NOT China
