"Dear BE Volunteer,
Barbury International Horse Trial, held on July 9 - 12 in Wiltshire is urgently needing Fence Judges for the Saturday. Season passes for those that help at the Event and there may be an option of bringing a caravan. Please contact Jenny Haywood on 07850 706727 or by email jennyhaywood@hotmail.co.uk to offer your help or direct any querries"
Unfortunately I am already helping at the new event at Howick - does anyone else fancy it - good viewing and a very well run event - and a season pass so it means you can go and swan about on the Friday and Sunday for free!

How old do you have to be to fence judge? I will be unablento make it but always wondered

Ditto LPR will I have to have adult with me and do you both have to be members or do any training or anything? It's something I've always fancied doing!

Hmm not sure... but I would imagine 18+????

You usually fence judge in pairs - so when Beth was younger she used to be my 'pair' (I think she started helping when she was about 13)

Good luck at Milton Keynes btw!!

JTI - no full training is given in the briefing prior to starting, and you dont have to be members. If they are aware its your first foray into judging they will normally give you a fairly easy fence.

Its good fun - you can play spot the professional and also spot which piece of tack is this seasons 'essential' item!! Go on give it a go!!!

Thanks. I'm only 16 so will have to find someone willing to accompany me! Will definitely volunteer for my next local one though!
