Someone who has been - could you just reassure me this is a 'Charlton Park' type of novice course (i.e. big and bold), not a twisty turny big bold technical course?

It is all a bit academic now as my entry is in, but I am bizzarely having jitters about it. We jumped round CP clear with ease last year, it's the twisty turny stuff like bricky I don't enjoy as much. Huge but 'kick on' is fine.....

Enlighten me as to the technical fences please, if anyone has done it recently.

Quite why I am worrying about this today when it's a month away I have no idea - probably because I've just looked at the entries list for it and the reality has hit home that I am going!

I can't tell you cause I've not been but I'm sure you'll be fine. Horse can do it, so can you

I've been and watched last year now what do you want me to tell you. The fence I saw a few problems was a large hedge down hill with a slight drop on landing. Horses I saw though weren't going forward so not a problem in your case. The rest looked jumpable and that's coming from me. They had a duck fence in the water (there were 2 waters) and the course zig zagged back and for so great for viewing. I thought it was a lovely event and really posh. Was going to try and enter it this year but it hasn't happened and it's def not a first timers

LMAO, no, forwards not generally an issue XC! I don't mind big and downhill (like that hedge at Charlton Park), seem to ride fine, it's doing something on landing after such a fence which would worry me - if all I have to do is gallop with my reins round my ears I'll be ok! We jumped our first fence in water at Aldon, which confused him (had to do it from trot), but he went!

Theres nothing much there that would worry him.
Yes its big, next to the 3* course theres about an inch in height lol
Basically its the same course only on a slightly smaller scale, hence being quite beefy.
Its very undulating although flat for the first bit for the novice.
There is a jump down into water and a dolphin in the water to jump if i remember rightly.
They have also restructured the water too.

Youll be fine, no twisty stuff just big stuff.

you'll be fine! if muggins here can do it ona 14.1hh naughty pony then B will have no trouble! Its an absolutely fantastic course, favourite event, the xc looks big and scary but rides really really nicely

Is the jump into water a step or do I have to jump over something too? Couldn't work it out from EWW.

What was I thinking entering this one?!

I've seen RachelFerd's pics there and I knew it was only about a hole smaller than the 3*. I must have lost my mind! On the plus side, if we get round I'll know he can cope with CCI* I suppose.

He'll be fit as you like since then as he'll have done 3 events (one at PN) for the 3 weekends before hand.

I have a feeling its just over a little log with the ground running away into the water.
However, if they change it around you will have to jump down into the water (step).

Just depends which way they run it.

I think if we just have to drop off a step then do a fence in the water like aldon it will be fine, if we have to jump over something too steering may bne a bit sketchy. EWW pics are a touch confusing so I can't work out if there is one water which is tortoise, step down, dolphin in water, step up, tortiose (seems a bit excessive!), or if there is one water which has tortiose, step down, step up, tortiose (which is fine) and a second water which is fence, slope in, dolphin, slope out - also fine.

PM Millbrook Song - its one of her faves.
From memory last year first water you went over a fence 1 stride then a step into water - and seeing Boysie at Pontispool last week launch into water I would wear a wetsuit!! No seriously the pair of you are more than ready for it - B likes is because its a nice 'gallopy' track, yes fences are up to height - but thats not a problem with you two!!
You will enjoy it I'm sure - stop being a wuss!
