Well, i'm sorry to say that you just wern't trying hard enough with your vibes!!!

Poor Ernest.. He coped a little better in the dressage, in that he made some sort of effort with 99% of the movements, getting 5's and 6's (even getting one 7

) but yet again, we got two 0's for the walk, as yet again it just didn't happen.. Ok, 5's and 6's arn't great, but they would have added up to a qualifying mark, should we have got them all the way through, but jig-joging sideways doesn't seem to win points in dressage now a days

The rest.. I can't really express how awesome he is!! Apart from saying that he did a double clear! (clear with-in the time SJing, clear but rather slow XC).
We did however have one blip! Not at a fence tho, the XC started with 3 straight forward galloping fences in a straight line.. Followed by a turn (not too tight, but needed to be set-up for) into no. 4.. so i slightly touched the breaks, nothing happened, touched them a bit harder, still nothing, so did the "plant one hand on the neck, and haul with the other" thing.. only in doing that i felt something "go" in my thumb, at first i thought i'd dislocated it, although obviously not, as after jumping fence 4 and galloping down the hill to fence 5 i gave it a little wiggle, and it seemed to work (which it wouldn't have if it was dislocated).. Very quickly pain was replaced with adrenalin and we were on our way.. Taking the straight routes pretty much everywhere, but not going too quick, as i was worried about the slowing down bit with a dodgy thumb

Ernie truely is awesome, he made it feel so easy, which i know it wasn't!

So, onto poor Orla pony, who is as genuine as the day is long.. but really is happy at PN level, not at a Novice that shares most its fences with the 2*
smirk.gif

She did her usual sweet, flowing, rhytmical test to score a 35, which was a tad unfair, on looking at some of the other marks.. but then she's not a flashy big moving horse, which i guess is what the judge liked.

The SJing.. She wasn't really that keen on the ground, which was rather hard, and un-treated, as they'd spent all their time on the XC and main arenas.
I feel she was trying to say at this point "look, i'm not an event horse, look at all the others, which are, and i look nothing like them"..
But we still had to try with the XC, where she really said once and for all, that she defo isn't an event horse, not at oversized Novice level anyway..
She says she'd be very happy (and consistently placed, more than likely) at PN level.. which is hopefully what we'll do!
Please don't call her a pot-hunter, as she has given it a good go at the level above, but says it's not for her

Am still on a high from today tho!!!

poor girlie, shame she doesn't enjoy the best horse sport!

Still, mr E sounds like he is on a massive roll atm! Am so chuffed - am a bit crap with results of FEI - is that a qualifying one or not?

Hope your thumb is ok

She does enjoy it, she loves it infact, going everywhere with a smile on her face/ears pricked.. but wishing that the jumps wern't quite so big, and that PN size would fit her much better

Fab report - am pleased Orla pony has made her wishes clear.......! A good consistent PN pony is actually quite hard to find.

Ernie sounds like a star in the making - you're right to be thrilled - what a great weekend!

Great report - huge well done for today, the course caused so many problems even later on in the day and only a handful made the time even when they were going for it!

SUCH a lovely report - not because it is a glowing sucess story, but because it is so down to earth, and ACCEPTING of all this wonderful sport throws at us!!!

We are always told - 'there's always another day', but it is quite difficult when you get 0's in the dressage!!!

We struggle with dressage - great warm-up - nerves take over, and jogging in walk etc etc is a certainty.!!!

How do we get over it? It is Catch 22, and if there is a trainer out there who has the answer....................???

You could make your fortune!!!

Sounds like you had a fun time though, and the great thing is getting back after the X-C with a smile on your face!!!!

Well done!!

Congratulations on a brillant double clear. You are getting closer to that qualifying mark and I am sure next time it will happen. Anyway with a jumper like that you can forgive him the dressage.

Boss, i thought his timing was pretty good tho.. he went up on two, came down on one, and then went on go
grin.gif
Stupid pony!!
I think it helps having mum lead him tho, as he gets upset when i try and hold him back, but not so when mum does...

I've been there with the 0 dressage - very disheartening!! Hope you find a solution and can get qualified soon.

Sorry for not trying hard enough with the vibes, but maybe some weekends there just aren't enough to go round?

Very well done on the double clear though, and for not dislocating your thumb.

Shame that Orla's not loving novice but good on you for hearing her point of view.

Gah for dressage - you had all my focussed vibes on Friday afternoon. Just a little more friendliness from one judge and you would have been there.... Next time!! Awesome DC though in splendid company, you must be pretty

regardless.

Thanks for the replies everyone!!

Mum has just informed me that there were only 19 double clear rounds, out of 130 odd starters.. So yeah, i'm pretty chuffed!!!!

Chloe, thanks so much, i did see the pic, but didn't get round to replying..
I think the pic high-lights rather well, that poor Orla just finds it that little bit hard at that level.. as all the others are pinging over that fence, where as she is only just making the back part of it, having met it on a nice stride!
