I am receiving a horse on loan next month and she is barefoot. Her owner says she has very soft feet and last year couldn't keep shoes on when out 24/7.
I want to compete this horse in dressage and jumping, she does both well on a surface however I want to do some summer shows, most of my local riding club shows are on grass, dressage, Trec and showjumping. I've never had a barefoot horse before and am used to the security if studs when jumping on grass. My questions are, will she be safe to jump on grass without slipping and falling over? If she has soft feet will riding her on grass make them worse? Are there any alternatives to shoes I can try?
All advice greatly received, thanks.
