I didn't make it plain in my post, I can see that BUT it wasn't the bare foot trimmer who said that the farrier was only doing a paddock trim.We did't have one on the yard.It was my then instructor. To be very frank the trimmer(when she came) did do a better job. However I have moved yards and there are some decent farriers on this one I think.Iam learning gradually to tell the difference. There are good trimmers, there are bad trimmers and ditto farriers, vets, dentists and anything else you care to name.

Haven't read your other post, but you are so right. There are good and bad in every profession.

you are so right. Not all 'tradespeople' are good at their trade

Ditto!

I can understand where many farriers' general suspicion of barefoot trimmers comes from. Efforts, however, are being made to regulate the profession, and there are trimmers who train for years, and are very good at what they do. I realise that we all have to compartmentalise a bit to make any sense of the world at all

; however; it's a bit irritating sometimes to see people lumped all together in generalisations.

On my yard, I've been challenged a number of times (always in a friendly way) about my decision to take my pony the barefoot route. I'm not a bunny-hugging new-age numpty

, and to me, his hooves say all that is needed about whether or not it was the right decision for him, considering the circumstances in which I am able to keep him.
