slightly pointless post, just sharing a few photos of me schooling Ron bareback.... quite pleased with how he went (when he gave up arguing!)
arguing

Must do wonders for your seat! I would love to do it, however since i only have a field and a slightly hyper ponio i figure it's not a great idea!

Awesome :D Good pics :)

I was doing the same thing this morning, oddly enough. Without the camera though ;)

he hates flatwork with a passion, but accepts it more readily when there's no saddle! He'll happily work in an outline if there's jumps about though... clever pony.

I can't quite believe how well he's stepping under from behind - he's not exactly built for it!

that doesnt stop me ;)
i hack bareback quite often - do canter interval training bearback too
i put a neck strap on though as HRH finds bucking funny lol!

:D me too. Can't beat that feeling. I do usually keep the jumps a bit smaller when I'm bareback though. Last time my youngster pinged over a bigger one bareback I almost ate dirt - very fortunate he stopped, even a sedate side step would have put me face first on the ground!

same here - I hack out once a week bareback during the hunting season to give him a change, and to use his body heat to help ease my knee off! nothing beats a flat out gallop bareback!

Lovely pics!

I did try bareback hacking once - it was the one time that madam decided to pee around at a gate (she is normally very good at getting through the many gates) and I ended up sliding off to get us through the gate with no means then of getting back on! After a 5 mile walk home we haven't repeated the performance. :)

Hee hee there's an epidemic :D I hacked out bareback today - bosses horse who hasn't been doing much. Didn't put a saddle on as he keeps getting girth galls (soft fat condition). He really enjoyed being out and about, but got impatient when we had to stand still and sat on a bin :) That started him off and I came really close to splatting on the road 3 times. We had leaping, spinning and running backwards threatening to go up which got him growled at a LOT and some big pony club kicks :D With my mum and son following behind holding their breath, whilst the mares they were riding looked on in disdain!!!
Got back in one piece, somehow, was still a nice ride and hoss seemed pleased with himself, if a little tired lol!!!!!!

Then we had lunch in the pub, so great day all round :D :D :D
