bareback pads- anyone use them???

i have been riding my new horse bareback as i don't have a good enough fittin saddle for her yet, however she absolutly love me ridin her bareback her ears are always up and shes so high spirited at 24, i have looked at bareback pads but i don't kno much about them. can you hack out in them and stuff?? has anyone used them?? are the stirrups on them safe i heard they were dangerous?? help please

i broke a driving cob in using one (the coloured in my sig) if your balance is good then its ok cause the one i used thended to slip about abit he was very strong and bucked and reared we hacked out and ended upon the back of a hunt one day lol although wouldn't recomend that we went away kind of sharpish as i didn't fancy being plowed into the ground lol we managed to jump a ditch and i found it ok but honestly i would say be really carefull and make sure that the horse is good and you are secure(sp)

I've got one and i love it

, but i wouldnt ride with the stirrups on very much - they cause pressure point on the horses' back.

I alway rode show shetlands in them, with stirrups on and we did shwoing and local jumping and it never caued any problem.

I used to exercise my brothers little pony in one and hack out on the roads no problem. If you are safe and have a sensible horse that you know well...why not!

Yes, I use a Best Friend bareback pad.
I wouldn't use one with stirrups because of possible pressure problems and also because of the lack of lateral stability. I think you might also eventually get pressure points under your seatbones if you rode for long distances in one. But I think bareback riding is great for improving balance, and, well a bit of padding isn't such a bad idea!

I've got a Horse Dreams sheepskin bareback pad. It is FAB, like riding on a really thick sheepskin rug. I cheated and got the one with big knee rolls too, so feel very secure in it. You can add stirrups onto it if you want to, but I don't to avoid any pressure points.
