I used one to break a horse in and it was great, got one brand new on ebay for £80, made on sheepskin. Was great to use just for that, but, my friend had to order a new saddle and while she waited a month for her new one to arrive, she borrowed my pad, by the end of the month he was bucking and broncing, she got the back lady up and he had so many tight muscles due to pressure points from the pad.
Sorry this has turned out to be a long reply lol, basically there ok for very short term use only IMO x
I'd be interested in answers to this as well, as my EE instructor thinks the best way for me to learn to sit my horse's canter is with a bareback pad eeek!
i have this one http://www.barebackpad.co.uk/ are using on a filly thats being slowley backed its great also use it on my other mare for a laugh they really are worth having in the tack room as they do fit everything.
I have one for my horse, who, at 24, has developed a dipped back and is hard to fit with a conventional saddle.
The one I have is this one. It has attachments for stirrups but we don't use them - I understand that using stirrups can cause pressure. Certainly we haven't had any problems using this pad, both horse and rider find it very comfy.
