I have tried a few, including a Best friends type(borrowed), a Buck-You, and a Thineline (didn't like either and sent them back).

I'm considering shelling out some savings on either the Lammfelle TB model, or the Equitex riding pad. I have seen quite a few 2nd hand Lammfelles with random chunks of fluff missing - is this something that happens to them, or have these been particularly abused?

I do intend to use and abuse the pad - beach rides/ hammering it down with rain hacks when I don't want to soak my leather saddle, as well as chilled summer hacks. Anyone have any experience of either/both these pads? I know past threads have stongly recommended the Lammfelle, but the fluff loss worries me. I don't want to shell out for something that wont last. The Equitex pads in general seem very hard weraing and washable.

I bought my Christ Lammfelle sheepskin pad many years ago (20+?) and have used it on a selection of ponies and horses ever since. It has never shed fluff, wool or any other of its' components through the entire time I've had it.
I've washed it with L** washing powder on a cool washing machine cycle and either put it on a cool dryer setting, or put it outside in the sun with a thin sheet over it to deter any animals/birds from harvesting the sheepskin wool.
No complaints whatsoever from me about this piece of equipment.
