Bareback roller with stirrups

I'd considered buying one but never got around to it... (ok, that's no help xD)
However, thinking about it it didn't seem like such a good idea - I imagine it'd be quite uncomfortable if you had your leg against it and I'm not sure how stable it would be. I would probably get a bareback pad instead

My understanding was that you need some kind of structure to your saddle be it a tree or treeless to support the pressure of the stirrups. I'd be concerned about how a bareback pad would spread the weight.

Thanks for your replies, I would only use it for taking him into the water after our ride for a swim. He is a welsh d who is built like a barrel, I have short legs and feel like I am going to slide straight off the side if he doesn't go in a straight line when I have ridden him bareback!!

dwi - I understand your concerns and agree that all the pressure would be centred on a very small point.

May have to look at a bareback pad, no stirrups, with a handle!!

The Horse Dream sheepskin ones are great. They have a handle, great big knee rolls and you can add safety stirrups if you like. Best of all you could bung it in the washing machine when you got home and it would come up like new.

Have fun at the beach.
