barefoot... again!! Black vs white hooves

I think someone's done some research recently to say that white hooves are not softer etc, so I assume no difference going barefoot, sorry I have no links as on phone :-)
 
In front (lgl and navicular) white flatter then black but horn and growth same. Backs are both white and If I was not dealing with aforementioned fronts issues we would be ready to go here aside from actual growth of new hoof as only 12 weeks from de shoe.

our grey cob used to be a mountain goat... ebony was footy to begin with (black feet, slightly flat footed and TB x) but ben is seeming to be a wuss on the gravel, Im sure with time he will be ok, I know at boot camp he will have fronts on to help with this, its just not practical to give him time to harden up while he is at bootcamp at £100 a week. I may shoe him for the first yr to give him time to get used to be shoeing, I have had horses that have no idea what the process is and throw a hissy fit, Id rather shoe him for a while so if I ever sell or cant keep him he wont be a problem for someone else if they want to shoe, but then the shoes are coming off. I suppose the bad weather hasnt helped, he is in good condition, not overly grazed but on soft wet ground and not ridden out, kind of difficult for his hooves to harden in that, I guess Im just being overly concerned.

Royal Vet college and every other vet I have met have said there is no difference in strength. However people think white ones weaker as they show all knocks, bruising etc.
 
Can't really compare but my mare has never been shod, is white all round and 10 yrs old now, never struggled or had problem, great feet, very solid.
 
I got told this by both my vet and farrier when I wanted to take my boy barefoot (he's white all round except for a black stripe down a front) and yet he's barefoot now and doing absolutely fine with it so I don't believe there's any difference! :)
 
No diff at all - often used by people as an excuse for terrible looking feet who dont want to look any further!
 
My boys back and front left hooves are white and un-shod. They do show the bruises and do chip far more than the black one (He's a Native) but I'm not sure if its coincidence??
