Hi there, I am looking at buying a cheyenne (2nd hand) and was wondering if there was a weight limit to these saddles? I am a size 12-14 and weigh just under 12 stone. Would this be OK? Also what is the best pad to use undernieth? I know you are supposed to use those that have a spineal clearence but read somewhere that someone has used a limpet pad with sucess. Would this be ok even though there is no clearence?? Also is there anything I need to look for when buying these 2nd hand?? Recomendations please! Thanks!

Hiya, weight wise you are absolutely fine - the are used by RDA with MUCH heavier riders !!

You cannot use a limpet under these, you absolutely must use a barefoot pad, or the whole system of treeless will not work. The pad is designed for this saddle. I've looked at others, and tbh, it was not worth it. Your horse's back is priceless, and if you are investing in the saddle, get the right pad to go with it :)

Thanks Shysmum. I did suspect as much but thought it was worth asking. Thanks!

So I have bought my 2nd hand Cheyenne and now need a pad to go underneath. What can people reccomend?? It is for a tb with big shoulders a medium wither and some muscle atrophy behind the shoulders. Help please guys! I dont want to buy the wrong one!! Thanks!

LittleNordic - you might be better off starting a new thread asking about the pad because someone who might not be able to answer the weight question but who knows about the pad might not open this thread.

Oh, and get back to work! :) x

Get the BAREFOOT pad for the Barefoot Cheyenne saddle - it is designed specifically for the saddle.

I have a cheyenne and I only use the barefoot cheyenne saddle pad.
